I love Cancers

No, not what you're thinking....the astrological sign, Cancer. You always used to flip back through your Cosmo magazine
to read your horoscope, and convince yourself that whatever it said completely applied to you. All along knowing that you're probably making it fit into some aspect of your life or current drama.

I can meet a group of people, and always connect to one more than the others. Come to find out, they're a Cancer. I'm sure it might just be a bunch of BS, but when I find out that people that I really could see myself being besties with are just reminds me of how much I believe in it.

Maybe the Cosmo horoscope section shaped me into the person that I am, but I am willing to bet that it was all in the stars for me to be who I am today.

While we're at it, can someone please confirm that mood rings really did work?

BTW, this was exactly like my mood ring (from Maurices I believe). That thing rotted my finger off, but I was convinced that the whole time I dated Jeff Styron...I was happy and in love.

Flea market find ends in heartbreak

I love going to the flea market to see what little surprises I can find, or just to enjoy the beautiful weather and being outdoors. Last weekend when my mom and sister came into town, we did just that. I didn't have my heart set on anything specifically, which is the way that I prefer to do it. That way if I find something I love, it's even more exciting. If I don't find anything at all, my hopes aren't let down too much.

As this day would have it, I happened upon the most beautiful buttercream butler tray table that would have fit perfectly in my living room.

I tried to hide my childish excitement when I saw the price tag, because now I had to put on my haggle face. I got the man down $10, but told him that I would come back later. I even took a photo of it with my phone. The seller's last words were, "you better not leave it, it's a good price". Well, you know everyone says that wanting to sell their items. I knew it was a good price, but I was secretly trying to talk myself out of buying it, as I walked around looking at it on my phone. It wasn't something I needed, just a lust item.

As we were getting ready to leave, I went back to his booth area. My mom said, "just get it". As the words slowly crept out of her mouth, an orange SOLD tag fell on it's top. I looked up in disbelief to find a pushing-40-year-old man wearing a sweater vest staring back at me with a smirk. I'm not even gonna start with what I wanted to call him, but he probably bought it for his wife's beach cottage to match her shabby chic decor. I left empty-handed, and heartbroken that day. How could something that I wasn't even looking for, make me so upset to not have it?

I had big hopes for you little tray table, and I know that you probably didn't receive the warm welcome as you would have from my home. I'm secretly hoping that I'll find you or your brother or sister one day, and if I do....I'll pay an extra $10 just to make you mine. And when I bring you home, I'll dance around you and make you best friends with my Buddha and great-grandma's red vase.

'til we meet again little tray table,

I love to save $$$

HT triples are over and it included a lot of buying and a lot of savings.

My 4 day shopping total came to $57.81 out of pocket for $230.38 worth of groceries ($172.57 saved, 75% off). I'm not sure I can beat last month's grocery bill, but it's close. It doesn't leave me with much money for produce and milk throughout the month, but I did stock up on tp and laundry detergent for next month:)

My mom and sister came up this weekend, and I even got them started on couponing. Since they are opening a new HT in Morehead City, there should be no excuse for them to not be on the bandwagon.

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend as much as I did, especially with this beautiful weather.

No time for blogging people....Harris Teeter triples are fast approaching

Time to get organized for HT triples starting this Thursday, trying to cut my grocery budget even more than last month. $68 is hard to beat for the month though, but I'm gonna try.

A prelude to the penny-pinching....I hit up FoodLion yesterday and they paid me to take these items home:) 4 cans Progresso soup, Hunt's ketchup, Moore's wing sauce, Mentos gum, Hefty cups. $16.94 before coupons and MVP...$0.28 overage. Yippee. Gah, I have a problem.

I had to DVR Oprah's show yesterday, and they had a bunch of great tips to save $ in these times of economic downfall.

This is also a reminder of how much we can help in our worldly conservation efforts.
Remember that the more you recycle, the less trashbags you will use. I also keep a separate paper bag for bulkier items that could fill up my trashcan quicker.

Feel free to post your money-saving and conservation tips:)
