Can I just say how happy I am that....

the FDA approved the world’s first study of a human embryonic stem-cell-based therapy in humans.

"This is the dawn of a new era in medical therapeutics," said Thomas B. Okarma, Geron's president and chief executive officer. The hope that stem-cell therapy will repair and regenerate diseased organs and tissue "goes beyond what pills and scalpels can ever do."

Times are a changing people!!!

Dear January,

Despite my last blog, you have managed to make me happy for 3 days of your 31 day existance.

My snow day involved...

putting on my skinny-leg jeans (not skinny anywhere else) and my favorite black ultra tall Uggs

dressing up my dog in his sweater and taking him for a play

going to Bojangles for a biscuit (just because the weather man advised against driving)
and finishing the day being lazy and eating Szechuan Shrimp Lo Mein

P.S. January,
Maybe I won't be so hard on you next year if you drop white flakes from the sky again:)

Goonies is now replaced as my "most favoritest movie of all times"

Monday I went to see Clint Eastwood's, Gran Torino, and it is BY FAR the best movie I have seen...possibly EVER.

It evoked so many emotions, which is why I think I liked it so much. I also think that Eastwood has been "stereotyped" into these roles, so it makes his character more believable. A hard-around-the-edges man, trying to save the world and ultimately himself.

It's a great portryal of changing times, generation gaps, overcoming adversity and personal conflict. If anyone is questioning whether to go or not, it's worth it. Even a cheapskate like myself would pay full price to see it again, but try a matinee if you aren't so sure. Be prepared for non-PC slang and name-calling, but don't let it dissuade you from going. It's a great movie.

Dear January,

Please discontinue your cold and blustery attitude,
I don't think that I have as many mittens as LOV to keep up.

The components that make me are not conducive for your chill
I have 21 years of beach weather acclimation, 3 1/2 years is no time to adjust.

This weather you produce feeds my Seasonal Affective Disorder
Its a hungry beast, and you continue to feed it.

Why, oh why, January do you fail me
I look forward to the new beginnings that you bring.

I am willing to bet that February will be much more generous in it's sunshine than you have been, blasted January.

These always make me feel special:)
