'Tis the season

It's that time of year again, and I've stuck to our tradition.....the crabpot Christmas tree. I love the smell of real trees, but as always we just don't have the time to enjoy it. So it's Christmas downeast style yet again. Here's one of the pics from last year.

Imagine walking into a Cary Ace Hardware and asking where the crabpot Christmas trees are, and seeing the look on their faces. First, if you know how snotty Cary residents are, it's even more hilarious b/c they hate having a Wal-Mart and Bojangles in their city. Then when the employee asks where Davis, NC is located they've opened up a whole 'nother can of worms there. But I proudly explain where it is, that I'm from there, and the family business that makes them. Small world, crabpot Christmas trees in Cary NC.

Last night, Philip entertained me by watching Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the old one, the real one). Everytime I watch it, I know how poor Max must feel. These make me laugh so hard, and I wonder why he scurries away at the sound of bells.....probably b/c I dress him up in these silly costumes and make him pose infront of the tree?!?! Look familiar?

Call me the coupon queen

I am so excited that I have converted so many of my friends to clipping coupons. Who really would turn down free money if it were laying on the side of the street??? Well, it's not quite that easy, it does take a bit of planning and organizing to get the best deals. All in all, it's my relaxing time that has most recently become my obsession. I have cut our grocery bill down by $60 a month just by planning a bit more especially for triple coupon days at Harris Teeter and Lowes. Even more exciting, KMart has been having super doubles (double coupons up to and including $2, that's $4 off of any one item). Wowsah. Sorry, I've gotta take a minute to calm down.

Also, instead of Philip and myself exchanging gifts of any sort this year we have adopted a family that we personally know. The money that we have saved in groceries and our gift money is going toward a holiday meal and gift cards for this family. We have been blessed to have our health, our family and friends, and our jobs and want to pass it on to others.
